UMANG AGARWAL
Umang Agarwal, born on 9th March, 2003 in Kolkata, West Bengal, is a young film and music director, composer, lyricist, and emerging poet whose creative journey began through writing – as his first sanctuary – a quiet corner where thoughts could unfurl without hesitation – and whether he was shaping song lyrics or weaving poetry, the page remained the place he returned to with instinctive ease.
A Xaverian for over seventeen years through both school and college, Umang grew up in an environment that shaped not only his education but also the rhythm of his inner world. The familiar corridors, the hum of classrooms, and the cultural spaces that nurtured him continue to echo through his work, grounding his artistic voice in a sense of belonging that feels both intimate and enduring.
Much of his work rises from the quiet hours of the night – the kind of 3 am or 4 am stillness where memory softens, longing sharpens, and one finds themselves wondering what could have been. In those moments, he writes not as a director or lyricist, but simply as a person trying to understand the truths that surface when the world is silent. This introspection fueled his professional debut in the creative sphere, starting with his short film Nimbu Paani (2024) and his original musical releases, “Reshmi” and “Bair Kare”.
